FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Answers To All Your Questions
ARE KITTY CAPS A GOOD OPTION FOR MY CAT?
The first few days to weeks of nail caps may draw a cat’s attention, causing some to bite or pick at the nail caps. This is perfectly normal. Virtually all cats will leave them alone after a few days. Like many behaviors, positive reinforcement with treats, games, and snuggles can help distract from picking at the nail caps. Nail caps do not prohibit the natural growth of a cat's nails. This means that the nails still grow at a normal rate while wearing the nail caps like ours when we have acrylics. If your cat leaves them alone with the first application of nail caps, they should last four (4) to six (6) weeks; however, they should not be left on the nails longer than six (6) to eight (8) weeks. At this point, the remaining caps should be removed before applying a new set. This maintains the health and length of the nails while providing ongoing protection from scratching.
You will know when it is still to remove the nails if it is prior to eight (8) weeks because the caps will grow off or the nails will show through. If you have any questions or concerns, you can always take a couple of quick photos (we love pictures anyway) and send them here. We will let you know what we suggest as soon as possible to maximize comfort for you and your pet(s).
Nail caps are great options for many owners and cats:
Safe alternative to declawing
Elderly cat owners, those with thin skin, bleeding problems, or clotting disorders caused by medication or health conditions
Families with small children and/or lots of visiting family and friends
Households with antique furniture, leather, quilts, rugs, wallpaper, etc.
Cats or kittens who “play rough” or show aggressive behaviors
Cats with skin issues, chronic itching, health problems, etc.
Sphynx and hairless cats with delicate skin
Cats whose nails get stuck in the carpet, bedding, clothing, or other fabric
SOME OF THOSE OTHER PLACES USE FANCY BALMS FOR DOG'S PAWS. WHY DON'T YOU?
Topical emollients are substances that moisten and soften your skin. They were originally developed to work leather. While topical (for the skin) emollients can be used to prevent dry skin, they are unnecessary. They are primarily used as a preventative and in the treatment of dry skin, callouses, cuts, and minor scrapes. They also sooth and heal chapped skin on breastfeeding dog's teats. They only promotes healing on superficial abrasions. Wounds and rashes should be treated by a Veterinarian or Veterinary Dermatologist.
I WANT TO HAVE A PAWTY. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
Get together six or more of your favorite furry companions, reptiles, or birds (we don't discriminate), select a location in or around Denton County, pick a date and time, and contact us for scheduling availability ASAP. We will even waive the trip fee to neighboring counties (if applicable) and give your pawty a 10% discount when everyone pays with one transaction. A 15% gratuity is automatically added to all pawties.
DO YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH RARE AND EXOTIC PETS?
Absolutely! We love exotics. They tend to be a little camera shy and less prominent, so you won't see them on our website or social media as often, but we do not discriminate. We love all pets.
HOW MANY DOGS CAN YOU WALK AT ONCE?
For the sake of the safety of the dog and the walker, we like to limit it to two (2) dogs.
MY PETS NEED TO GO TO THE VET. CAN YOU TAKE THEM?
No, we are not a pet taxi service. You will find that we provide a lot of the same services that Veterinarians do. If you need a referral to a Veterinarian, please reach out to us via Facebook. In the event of an emergency, please go to the nearest animal hospital that you are comfortable with. For safety's sake, it is always a good practice to keep a copy of your pet's medical records on hand.
ARE YOU A DOG WALKER?
No, but we will walk your dog(s) at their nail trim appointment. It is a great bonding experience and good for their health.
HOW CAN I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
HOW MUCH SHOULD I TIP?
While tipping is not required, it is appreciated. The standard tip for grooming is 15%-25% depending on the level of service. Many of our employees have received gifts and gift cards as well, but cash always fits and it is always the right color. It never goes out of style. There is also a link to our "Tip Jar" here and on the menu.
I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Contact us on Facebook and we will be happy to get back to you as soon as possible. If your question is frequently asked, we will ask the Webmaster to add it.
